About Tal

Guitarist and composer Tal Yadin has developed a unique musical style over a course of a journey that has taken him from Jerusalem, through the deserts of southern Israel and the beaches of Tel Aviv, all the way to the pulsing urban jungle of Berlin, Germany, where he is currently based.

The broad variety of natural and cultural landscapes in which he has lived and performed is today reflected in his musical personality.

Tal was born in Jerusalem into a musical family in 1987. When he was eight, his family left the city to take part in the formation of a new Kibbuts in the Israeli Dessert. It was there that Tal’s musical journey began in earnest, first as a drummer and later as a self-taught guitarist.

Tal began formal lessons at the age of 10, studying classical guitar with Israeli-Argentinian guitarist Oscar Cher. However, it was not until high school, when his then teacher sent him home with an armful of Jazz records, that he had his first encounter with the art form that would have the greatest influence on his musical development.

Upon completion of his three-year mandatory military service, Tal was able to fully pursue his interest in Jazz.  He soon moved to Tel Aviv to attend the Rimon School of Music as part of a prestigious program for outstanding young Israeli Jazz musicians. There, he studied with renowned Israeli musicians such as trumpeter Avishai Cohen, guitarist Mordy Ferber and composer Yoni Rechter. Despite being awarded a study scholarship to the Berklee Collage of Music, he decided to complete his Bachelor studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, before relocating to Berlin to establish a musical career in Europe.

Since his arrival in Germany in 2016, he has participated in numerous musical projects and has performed regularly throughout the country. His first album as a composer and bandleader, In & Out, was released in May 2019.
As of 2020, Tal is leading his own jazz trio with bassist Michael Edwards and drummer Yaaki Levy. He also co-leads the “Big Berry Duo” with Saxophonist Omri Abramov. Alongside, he is frequently hired as a lead guitarist for diverse bands.
